15+ Welsh Tattoo Ideas to Celebrate Your Welsh Heritage
Last year, Audrey from Belgium started a thread on a Facebook group, where she shared her Welsh tattoo ideas as part of her love for Welsh culture and ancestry. While she may not be expecting, it did start a debate on the accurate spelling of ‘hug’ in its Welsh translation—‘Cwtch’ or ‘Cwtsh?’
“Wrong spelling!” as some of the commenters posted—meanwhile others supported the use of Wenglish, and appreciated the meaning behind it.
“I wouldn’t worry about alternative spelling. Welsh speakers will still understand the meaning.”
“I really can’t believe some of the comments on here. I really don’t think that the tattoo was posted for a debate. Be kind.”
“I’ve never seen it spelt like that before but as long as you are happy with it that’s all that matters!”
Someone even went as far as to explain the difference between ‘Cwtch’ and ‘Cwtsh.’ “Cwtch – in use with Welsh and English speakers.
“Cwtch is one of only a few words that are used by both Welsh and English speakers. English speakers use the word cwtch without any translation. Whilst cwtch is the standard spelling of the word, it is sometimes written as cwtsh.”
Others couldn’t help but share their favourite Welsh tattoo ideas that resembled Welsh words, stories, and myths. Below are a few:

If you are looking to ink a tattoo, remember that it all comes down to the meaning behind—a reminder that ‘You are still Welsh and always will be.’
