A new video game, titled as Tales from the Mabinogion is based on fantasy, and inspired by Welsh folklore. It centres around King Pryderi whose land is being plagued by a cursed purple frog.

The story is being told in Welsh, with subtitles in English. It involves beasts and monsters that ultimately gave rise to King Arthur and Merlin.

The folklore is based on fantasy fiction from the 12th and 13th century manuscripts of the pre-christian celtic mythology. The warrior-king Pryderi, entangled with beasts from the mythical otherworld, goes on a journey to reveal the origins of the curse and unlock secrets to save his Kingdom.

Stevan Anastasoff, the designer of the game said during the release, “Welsh is a beautiful, ancient, musical, magical language – the language that inspired Tolkien’s Sildarin, the language of the Elves.”

”There is no more fitting way to tell a fantasy story,” he concluded.
