Last night’s 2-0 away to Millwall saw Wrexham secure their first win in the second tier of English football since the final day of the 1981-82 season.
This amounted to 15,814 days.
How Wales & Britain Looked in 1982
In 1982, Margaret Thatcher was the Prime Minister; future Prime Ministers, Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, had not yet become MPs; future PM, David Cameron, was a teenager and future future PM, Liz Truss (remember her?), was 7. Arthur Scargill was also elected President of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) in 1982, a move which would define the decade.
In Cymru specifically: S4C would launch on 1 November 1982; 32 men from the Welsh Guards were killed following the bombing of the Sir Galahad during the Falklands War, Simon Weston being the most well-known survivor; Swansea City would complete their first ever season in the English Football League First Division (6th place) and the south of the country would endure its longest blizzard in more than a century, lasting 36 hours from January 7.
I also missed all of it I was born 12 years later.
