Welsh Histories Magazine May 2026 – DIGITAL COPY
The digital edition of Welsh Histories Magazine for May 2026 has finally arrived!
This month’s Welsh Histories Magazine is the fifth to come in 2026 and covers the very topical historical topic of Welsh elections! This one entirely covers Westminster elections (some Senedd elections are referenced but it is still too much of a recent introduction to dominate a history magazine) and largely covers the rise and fall of Wales’ dominant political parties, namely the old Liberal Party and the Labour Party. We look at how, ironically, Welshman David Lloyd George was arguably the biggest culprit in the demise of the Liberal Party, which rose to prominence in Wales in the 19th century, before moving onto the rise of Labour in the early 20th century before finishing at its very likely fall in 2026.
As always, there are some “Did You Know” facts thrown in. I try to make these relevant to the topic and this month’s fun facts reference the theme of Welsh politics.
This issue of the magazine has been written, created and designed by Niklas George (Welsh Histories founder and owner). There is no guest writer this month. All images used in this issue of Welsh Histories Magazine include the respective owner’s details, where applicable.
Happy reading!
