Did you know that, following their marriage on 20 March 1969, newlyweds John Lennon and Yoko Ono came to Cymru for a family getaway?
They stayed at the Corbett Arms, a Georgian Grade II listed building (sadly abandoned for more than a decade), in the seaside town of Tywyn, Gwynedd. John and Yoko brought their children from previous marriages, Julian and Kyoko, to the Welsh hotel.
John Lennon, from Liverpool, is said to have had a lifelong affinity with Cymru. He had plenty of Welsh ancestry, with his great-grandfather hailing from Flintshire, and like many young scousers, he spent much of his childhood on holiday in gogledd Cymru (north Wales).
