I have mentioned on more than one occasion that Bryn Celli Ddu Burial Chamber (near Llanddaniel Fab, Ynys Môn) is probably my favourite site to visit in all of Cymru.
Bryn Celli Ddu is Very, Very Old
Did you know, however, that it is estimated to predate the Great Pyramid of Giza by at least 400 years? It’s pretty damn old.
Yes, you might argue that “well, the pyramids look far cooler” and there is some truth to that. However, when you consider that Bryn Celli Ddu was so brilliantly designed that at dawn on the summer solstice, sunlight perfectly aligns with the passageway to illuminate the inner burial chamber for approximately 20 minutes, it is worth forgiving its more humble design. ‘Ave that, Pharoah Khufu.
