I recently wished a happy national day (or rgyal yongs dus chen) to the people of Bhutan! Did you know that only three country flags in the world have a dragon on?
Which Flags?
Cymru, Bhutan and Malta each have a dragon… although the Maltese dragon is getting trampled by St George and his horse in their flag, so it barely counts. Take care of your dragon!
In all seriousness, for those wishing to learn something, the Maltese flag contains the George Cross because it was awarded to the people of Malta by George VI in 1942 for their courageous efforts during the Second World War.
