Did you know that former First Lady of the United States, Hillary Clinton, is of Welsh descent? Also, before we dive into this one, don’t accuse me of claiming her as Welsh – facts are facts and I am just here to speak them. Don’t shoot the messenger!
Both her parents, Hugh Rodham and Dorothy Howell, are of Welsh heritage. Her paternal grandmother, Hannah Jones, was the daughter of a mining family from Merthyr Tydfil.
Clinton has also served in other political offices, notably as United States Senator for New York (2001-2009) and as the 67th Secretary of State (2009-2013) during the Obama administration. She was also the Democratic nominee for President in 2016… though we know how that turned out.
