Welsh Histories’ official photographer was checking out Parc Calon Lân (Blaengarw, Bridgend) for me over the weekend. Isn’t it pretty?
For those unaware, Parc Calon Lân is a pretty special park as it has been created from reclaimed coal works. The park also has access to spectacular views of Cwm Garw, as well as the surrounding woodland.

If you’re like me and love a long walk, you can find plenty of footpaths that lead through the mountains and around the many sculptures (some of which are pictured).
The park opened up in 2008 and the name “Calon Lân” comes from the famous Welsh hymn, which was written by Daniel James (with John Hughes composing the tune) sometime in the early 1890s.
