The attached image displays just some of the Welsh place names in Shropshire.
Though now English, the county of Shropshire was not always so; it was once part of the Welsh Kingdom of Powys until around about the time of King Offa’s annexation in the 8th century, hence many of the Welsh-place names within the county.
Furthermore, some parts of Shropshire (especially closer to the northwestern part of the border, around Oswestry) do contains pockets of Welsh speakers to this day. I know, I’ve met them!
I have also mapped out Welsh History, like stereotypes, celtic language, and Welsh ancestry. I must say, there have been times when people just couldn’t handle Welsh history!
