High up in Eryri, Twll Du (‘Devil’s Kitchen’, though the literal translation is ‘black hole’) is an impressive cleft above Cwm Idwal. The name itself comes from the clouds often seen to be rising from the cleft – creating the profound imagery of, well, the devil cooking high above sea level.
What Is It?
The cleft itself is unsafe and should be avoided. However, there is a good (and popular) path which leads directly towards it before veering around it, directly to Llyn y Cwn.
